Use your children’s playtime to introduce them to other cultures and expand their view of the world God loves.
Family Activity:
Consider dolls and puppets that reflect ethnicities or cultures different from yours. Include multicultural food sets in your child’s play kitchen. Browse your local library or bookstore for storybooks that introduce your kids to life in other countries. Look for coloring books that feature children from other lands. Check out Crayola® multicultural marker and crayon sets with eight different skin tones. Choose puzzles that feature world flags, maps, or children around the world. Select international board games like Mancala, Chinese checkers, Parchisi, or chess. Need a few ideas to get started? Check out Weave’s recommended resources.
Discuss:
- Describe an international toy, game, or book you would like to have.
- What are the benefits of learning about other countries and cultures? How can this kind of learning expand our family’s view of who God is?
Pray:
Ask God to give you creative ideas for introducing your children to the peoples of the world in ongoing, intentional ways.
