Family mealtimes are wonderful opportunities to connect with our children. Because everyone is together in the same place, mealtimes also provide opportunities to cultivate habits in their lives. Here’s one way of establishing a routine of interceding for global workers.
Family Activity:
Make a prayer tablecloth. Find a world map that is large enough to cover the top of your dining table. Gather updates from global workers you know. Collect recent newsletters, print out email updates, and remove those photo magnets covering your fridge. Label updates with names of global workers, their ministry focus, and location. Place the updates and photos on the map. You can purchase a clear vinyl piece from your local craft store to cover the map and make it into a tablecloth. When you get new updates, it’s easy to swap them out. Focus on one global worker family each week. At mealtime, read portions of their update and take turns praying for their family, ministry, and the people they serve.
Option: Afterwards, send an email to the global workers, letting them know you prayed for them.
Discuss:
1. What scripture promises of God could you pray for global workers? For the people they serve?
2. Many global workers serve as a family. How could you pray for the children?
Pray:
If you don’t know any global workers, ask God to connect you with some. If you do, ask God to give you additional ideas of how to serve them.
