Family Activity
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Activity Time: 10 minutes
Materials: a pen or marker, two pieces of paper (write “God” on one piece and write “Unreached” on the other), optional use toys like stuffed animals or dolls and tape if only one child is present
Give one child the “God” sign and have them stand on one side of the room, or tape the sign to the toy. Give the second child or toy the “unreached” sign and have them stand on the opposite side of the room. The third or only child will represent believers.
Unreached boys and girls do not know about the true God, so they cannot pray to him. We can pray to God at any time.
When we pray, we can talk to God and ask him for what children in unreached families need. Let us see what this looks like.
Direct the “believer” to walk over to the “unreached” child or toy, take their hand, and walk with them to the other side of the room where “God” is. Have the “believer” make a motion like they are praying. (If you are using the stuffed animals or dolls, have them pick up the “unreached” stuffed animal or doll and carry it to the “God” stuffed animal or doll.) We may not know everything that unreached people’s children need, but we do know the most important thing that they need to know: Jesus.
This kind of praying for others is called intercession. God loves it when we intercede for unreached children because he wants everyone to come to know him and his Son, Jesus.
Bible:
Read 1 John 5:14, 1 Timothy 2:1-4, and Luke 10:2 as a family.
Discuss:
- What happens when we pray to God?
- Why should we intercede for all people? What impact could your prayers have?
Pray:
Pray that God would send workers to tell the unreached about Jesus.
