Family Activity:
Look up the lyrics to a worship song in two languages different from the one you speak (or use the lyrics below). Learn a verse of the song in all three languages (your native language as well as two additional languages). Divide your family into three groups. Give each group lyrics in a different language. Take turns singing a verse in each language.
English:
Yes, Jesus loves me,
Yes, Jesus loves me,
Yes, Jesus loves me,
The Bible tells me so.
Spanish:
Cristo me ama, (cree-stoh may ah-mah)
Cristo me ama,
Cristo me ama,
La biblia dice asi. (lah bee-blee-ah dee-say ah-see)
Swahili:
Yesu anipenda, (yay-soo ah-nee-pen-dah)
Yesu anipenda,
Yesu anipenda,
Biblia yasema. (bee-blee-ah yah-say-mah)
Discuss:
- Read Revelation 5:9. Who are they singing about in this verse? What does it say about God’s global story?
- In Revelation 7:9 we see a picture of what heaven will be like. What do you think worship will look like in heaven?
Pray:
Pray for someone that speaks a different language than you. Pray that someone would share about Jesus with them.
We usually don´t sing at home together, but we listen to worship songs much of the day, in Spanish (our language) and English. Some songs speak about nations and tongues and that Jesus will be worshipped in all the earth… sometimes I keep repeating that part during the day… every nation every knee,…. etc
Thank you for sharing, Susana! Singing worship songs is a wonderful way to teach your children about God’s heart for the world.
