Consider dolls and puppets that reflect ethnicities or cultures different from yours. Include multicultural food sets in your child’s play kitchen. Browse your local library or bookstore for storybooks that introduce your children to life in other countries. Look for coloring books that feature children from other lands. Check out Crayola® multicultural marker and crayon sets with skin tones from around the world. Choose puzzles that feature world flags, maps, or children from different cultures. Select international board games like Mancala, Chinese checkers, Parchisi, or chess.
Discuss:
- Describe an international toy, game, or book you would like to have.
- What are the benefits of learning about other countries and cultures? How can this kind of learning expand our family’s view of who God is?
Pray:
Ask God to give you creative ideas for introducing your children to the peoples of the world in ongoing, intentional ways.
