As we go deeper into the Old Testament, we see the nation of Israel become more and more disobedient. So God raised up the prophets to remind Israel of their calling to be a holy, set-apart people who reflected Him to the surrounding nations. We see them trying to steer Israel back on course. The Minor Prophets also reveal to us much about God’s future plans for the nations.
Bible: Read Malachi 1:11 and Isaiah 12:4-6 together with your family.

Materials: outside space
Read Malachi 1:11 and think about the direction where the sun rises and the sun sets. Malachi 1:11 says that from where the sun rises to where it sets, God’s name will be great. Now read Isaiah 12:4-6. Isaiah 12 says to shout for joy and make known among the nations what God has done. Think you can shout loud enough that the whole world hears – from where the sun rises to where it sets? Have a “shout-off” in your family to see who can shout the loudest. Have the first person turn towards where the sun rises and shout “God is great!” Then shout it out in the direction the sun sets, as if you were shouting to the whole world. The next person will try to shout it louder, and so on.
Discuss:
- Why would God want us to speak of what He’s done?
- Since we can’t actually shout loud enough for the whole world to hear of what God has done, how do you think God could use your family to tell the world of what He’s done?

Pray that the world would hear of all God has done.
