Family Activity:
Teaching Time: 15 minutes
Materials: a toy car with one or more wheels removed
What’s wrong with this car? What would happen if you drove a car with wheels missing? Cars are created to drive straight and smoothly. If parts are missing, cars can’t do what they were created to do. God created children to grow in four areas. Read Luke 2:52 and discuss four ways Jesus grew. Add an action to remember each one. 1) wisdom—thinking (point to head), 2) stature—physical (squat down and then stand up slowly), 3) favor with God—spiritual (point up) 4) favor with man—relationships with people (shake hands with someone). Many children in the world are like this car. They have pieces of their life missing. This keeps them from becoming all that God planned. Global workers want families to grow physically, mentally, and in their relationships. When global workers tell families about Jesus, they help them grow spiritually.
Discuss:
- Here are four different ways global workers may help: building schools, digging wells to give people clean drinking water, translating the Bible into new languages, and building playgrounds. Which growth area/areas matches each of these ministries?
- Which of these four areas do you think it would be hardest to have missing? Why is it important to grow in all of these areas?
Pray:
Pray that God would show global workers how to meet the needs of the people they are working with.
