Meet Natalie, a nine-year-old girl with a heart to bless others. “I started a nature club with my sister and some friends. We help neighbors by doing jobs like walking dogs, raking leaves, and picking up trash. Most people pay us. We were going to use the money for something else, but then at church I heard about a Hindu people group that doesn’t have Bibles. I talked to my sister and friends and we decided to use the money to help them.” Natalie and her friends donated $30 that they had earned to a Bible translation project in India!
God has entrusted us with many blessings–all the things He has given us. We must be good stewards of these. We can either manage our blessings in a good way or in a bad way. We can keep them to ourselves or we can share them with others. The Bible teaches us that we should use our blessings to bless others.
Family Activity:
Teaching Time: 10 minutes
Materials: Paper, pencils/pens
Make a list of 10 blessings God has given you. These blessings can be your toys, your house, money you earn for doing chores, etc. Beside every blessing, write a way you could use that blessing to bless others. Pick one for this week and go and do it!
Discuss:
- Read Genesis 12:2. What is God’s purpose in blessing us?
- What are some not-so-good ways to use our blessings?
Pray:
Pray for those who you blessed this week.
