Note to Parents: In the last journal, you read a story about Mohammed and his family (if you missed the story, find it <\/em>here<\/em><\/a>). They are Emirati Arabs, an unreached people group living in the United Arab Emirates. What do Emirati families do for fun? Learn about one of their favorite sports with you children.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Camel racing is one of the oldest sports in the Middle East. In Dubai, most camel races are held in the early morning to avoid the extreme heat. At the biggest tracks, 60 camels can race at the same time. Camels are swift and can run up to 65 k (40 m) per hour. Owners of winning camels receive prizes like luxury cars and large amounts of money.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cultural Activity:<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Organize you own version of the camel races that Mohammed\u2019s family and friends enjoy watching. Imagine that you are camels at the racetrack in Dubai.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You will need:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • backpack for each racer<\/li>
  • Pillow, basketball, or football (soccer ball)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n
    1. Go outside. Plan out the route where you will race.<\/li>
    2. For your hump, put a pillow or ball in each backpack.<\/li>
    3. Strap on your backpacks and go to the starting line.<\/li>
    4. Get down on your hands and knees. Ready-set-go! <\/li>
    5. If you are not racing, make sure to cheer on the camels.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      Afterwards, pray as a family for the Emirati Arabs. Ask God to reveal the truth of who Jesus is to families who seek Him.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
