Note to Parents: <\/span><\/i>In the last journal, you read a story about Zamira and her family (If you missed the story, find it here<\/a>). They are Kazakhs, an unreached people group in Central Asia. What language do most Kazakhs speak? To find out, do the following cultural activity with your family.<\/span><\/p>\n

Cultural Activity:<\/h1>\n

Zamira speaks Kazakh at home and Russian at school. Find out what that would be like.<\/span><\/p>\n

Using the chart below, make one sign that says \u201chome\u201d and another sign that says \u201cschool.\u201d On the \u201chome\u201d sign, copy the Kazakh words for \u201cyes\u201d and \u201cno.\u201d On the school sign, copy the corresponding Russian words. <\/span><\/p>\n

  1. Hang or prop up the signs where everyone can see them. Practice pronouncing the words on each sign.<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Choose one person to be the parent and another person to be the teacher. They should sit by the appropriate sign. The remaining people will be children.<\/li>\n
  3. The parent and teacher should take turns asking the children simple questions that can be answered \u201cyes\u201d or \u201cno.\u201d The children can use the signs to answer in the correct language for their setting.<\/li>\n
  4. Make sure to include these two questions: Do most Kazakhs follow Jesus? Should our family pray that they will learn about the true God who sent Jesus to be their Savior?<\/li>\n<\/ol>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
