In our homes, \u201cworld missions\u201d should be more than just an optional afterthought to teach our children. Let\u2019s raise the next generation to have a passion for God\u2019s Great Commission. As Hudson Taylor, famous missionary to China, often said,\u00a0\u201cThe Great Commission is not an option to consider, it\u2019s a command to obey.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

What is a mission-minded child?<\/p>\n

A mission-minded child \u2026 <\/strong>dreams of fulfilling God\u2019s destiny.<\/p>\n

A mission-minded child \u2026 <\/strong>prays for that next-door neighbor.<\/p>\n

A mission-minded child \u2026 <\/strong>may want to become a missionary \u2013 or a teacher or a doctor or a newspaper reporter or a state governor or a pastor or a businessperson or an airplane pilot or an author or a florist or a mother \u2013 as long as it\u2019s what God wants.<\/p>\n

A mission-minded child \u2026 <\/strong>is not a picky eater!<\/p>\n

A mission-minded child \u2026 <\/strong>takes home a photo magnet from the visiting missionary family and puts it on the kitchen refrigerator.<\/p>\n

A mission-minded child \u2026 <\/strong>is healthy, active, and adventurous.<\/p>\n

A mission-minded child \u2026 <\/strong>spends a summer night sleeping outside on the trampoline, gazes up at a sky filled with twinkling stars, and realizes God\u2019s plan is infinitely bigger than his or her own backyard.<\/p>\n

A mission-minded child \u2026 <\/strong>imagines rollerblading on the Great Wall of China!<\/p>\n

A mission-minded child \u2026 <\/strong>recognizes the names of David Livingstone, Amy Carmichael, Hudson Taylor, and Loren Cunningham.<\/p>\n

A mission-minded child \u2026 <\/strong>knows how to use chopsticks.<\/p>\n

A mission-minded child \u2026 <\/strong>has a reputation for thoroughly enjoying Bible sword drills and memory verse contests at church.<\/p>\n

A mission-minded child \u2026 <\/strong>puts extra money in the missions offering and feels extra good inside.<\/p>\n

A mission-minded child \u2026 <\/strong>thinks it could be fun to sleep in a mud hut in Africa!<\/p>\n

A mission-minded child \u2026 <\/strong>reads all the way through the Bible by the age of ten (or eleven or twelve) and is excited to start again!<\/p>\n

A mission-minded child \u2026 <\/strong>stares at the photos in the new geography textbook or magazine and imagines climbing to the top of that Egyptian pyramid, snorkeling in those tropical-blue waters, and giving a new outfit to that poor boy with the ripped-up shirt.<\/p>\n

A mission-minded child \u2026 <\/strong>befriends the new kid at school.<\/p>\n

A mission-minded child \u2026 <\/strong>thinks beyond the \u201cbox\u201d of what\u2019s merely expected and hopes to do something big, or something little, for God.<\/p>\n

A mission-minded child \u2026 <\/strong>wants to obey (even when no one is looking).<\/p>\n

A mission-minded child \u2026 <\/strong>loves Jesus!<\/p>\n
